This edition of the Encyclopedia of Sports focuses on the Women's World Cup. Since 1991, women have been selecting their world-class national team. Competition after competition, the number of national teams vying for a place in the finals has increased. For the most recent World Cup, in 2019 in France, 143 national associations registered for the qualifying matches – a record. Women's football (as they were known until the 1970s) had to fight for a long time before they could compete for the title of world champion under similar conditions to the men's. For this book, all World Cup matches, including the qualifying matches required for these matches, have been compiled in one work. It lists the complete statistics for each of the finals matches since the tournament began in 1991 in China. Special attention has been paid to the German-speaking countries, for which the qualifying lineups of the national associations from Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, and Switzerland are documented. As a bonus, each book includes a variety of video codes that allow you to relive all the finals in full length on your smartphone or tablet. Highlights from all finals matches from 2011 onwards can be accessed.
