The Club World Cup, officially the Super Clubs Cup[1] or Super World Clubs Cup, was played from June 16 to June 28 in Milan, at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium (San Siro), and was won by Inter.
The first edition was open only to clubs that had won the Intercontinental Cup at least once. Two editions of the Intercontinental Champions' Super Cup were held in 1968–69 and 1969–70, in which only clubs that had won the Intercontinental Cup at least once could participate, as was the case in the first Club World Cup in 1981.
