Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov were the best pairs figure skaters on the world stage ever. Over the course of their 15 years together, there have been many descriptions of the magical pairing that became known as "G&G". Some stated their hearts beat as one on the ice. Others indicated they were the perfect pair - he was the "frame" and she was the "picture". Professionals in figure skating described G&G's technique as fundamentally flawless...skating over the ice quietly --- with great speed, control and precision. The artistry they displayed on the ice was unparalleled.
An excellent example is their free skate to Beethoven's Piano Sonatas #14 "Moonlight" and #8 "Pathetique" at the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer for which they were awarded the gold medal.
You will NOT be disappointed in Katia's story of how she and Sergei met, and her details of the arc of their relationship until the untimely and devastating death of Sergei in 1995. From friends to close friends to lovers to husband/wife to mother/father, the story is laced with poignant moments of sheer joy and heartbreaking emotion. This was a true love. As Katia wrote, when Sergei's heart stopped hers was broken forever. An excellent love story.
