Gilbert De Rudder ("Grizzly") was one of the most well known motorsport celebrities in Belgium. Born in 1911, he began to take part in races in 1932. 1936 was his best year with several victories.(French GP and the Belgian 500cc title).
During a training session on July 13th,1946 he crashed against a tree and died three days later of his injuries.
